Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Berreth Gerke. Hi Arielle, so excited to have you on the platform.
So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My journey in the horse industry started before I could even walk. My grandfather who owns a farm put me on my first horse and would take me on trail rides. My passion for horses grew and my goals turned to the English industry and Hunter/Jumper riding. I competed throughout zone 8, which is Colorado and the surrounding states for a few years.
I then realized my passion for the industry and horses was something I wanted to do for a living. I met my now husband who has also worked with horses all of his life and had many tremendous achievements in both rodeoing and training race horses. We started a business together specializing in teaching riding lessons, training horses, and sales. We have now owned and operated our business successfully for almost 10 years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have been so blessed that it has been such a smooth road considering all of the variables that can happen in any livestock-related industry, where animals can become sick or injured at any given time. The hours, time, and care that go into the horses are very long, however, there’s a sense of accomplishment and gratification at the end of the day when we know we’ve succeeded with either our horses or our students.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our specialty is teaching riding lessons and the sales and training of horses. We have a very enthusiastic, dedicated, and loyal clientele who have trusted us not only to help teach them but also to help them find a horse that suits them the best. What sets us apart from others is that we train in a variety of disciplines from roping, to English (hunter/Jumper), and racehorses.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We plan to expand our facility even more and offer more boarding for clients looking to either buy horses or board horses with us and take lessons here at our facility. Along with people who are interested in taking lessons but do not own a horse yet. We teach everything from beginner to intermediate lessons.
